BOARD MEETING MINUTES
11 DECEMBER 2002, 6 P.M.

Attendance: Fred Moore (presiding), John Hostage, George Kelso, Arnold Reinhold, Barry M. Steinberg.

  1. Minutes of the November meeting were approved.
  2. Car-Free in Boston Status.
  3. A report by Andy Rubel was submitted. A copy is attached.

  4. MoveMass (Romin Koebel)
  5. A membership for a non-profit organization is $250 annually. There are Friday morning meetings once a month.

    Motion by Barry M. Steinberg (seconded by Arnold Reinhold) that APT join MoveMass for a one-year trial period. Passed with one abstention.

  6. Current Events for APT action.
    1. An APT letter to the Hingham Planner was approved (A copy is attached.).
    2. MBTA capital plans. We should cross-reference this on our web site. Motion by Fred Moore (seconded by Romin Koebel) that the Barry Steinberg statement on the T capital plan as submitted is an official APT statement. Passed with one abstention.
    3. Communication from John Kyper that there is going to be a public meeting on 18 Dec 02 at the Agassiz School about Arborway. The opponents to restoration of streetcar service are organizing.
  7. Framework for Advocacy.
    1. The national railroad system should serve an express rapid transit function.
    2. Expand the destination envelope of the transit system in order to increase the utility of the service.
  8. Web Site Redesign (John Hostage)

    We need ‘What's New?'.

    1. Official correspondence with others and their replies.
    2. Our update on Car-Free progress.
    3. Editorials
    4. Barry Steinberg's analysis papers.

    The President or Vice President will authorize posting of items on the web unless the Board disapprove by a majority.

  9. The next meeting is scheduled for 8 January 2003. [later rescheduled to 15 January]
  10. The meeting adjourned 7:38 p.m.
